Job Summary
Responsible for coordinating and supporting the health, safety, and loss prevention programs of the entire organization. Such support often will entail acting as a safety technical advisor, providing expert health and safety consultation and oversight to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and insurance standards, regulations, and requirements. Provide accident prevention and investigative support to the organization with the objective of ensuring a safe, secure, and healthful work environment for all employees, consumers, and visitors.
Primary Duties

- Work collaboratively assisting regions, programs, and major operations in developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal OSHA regulations, CARF Safety and Risk Standards, and organization-wide policy, procedure, and compliance demands.
- Prepare and distribute reports representing the organization's health and safety tends which, in turn, are required to develop and implement preventative and/or corrective actions designed to improve health and safety throughout the organization.
- Maintain a high-profile presence in all locations throughout the organization and conduct a periodic inspection of the work and consumer environments to ensure compliance with all health and safety standards.
- Provide investigative and risk analysis support to supplement regional, program, and operational accident review processes, when necessary, to assist in developing and implementing preventative and/or corrective measures.
- May be assigned to be the lead investigator of any accident, near miss, or incident that is deemed to be of major importance to the organization or any of its operations/programs to ensure the integrity of the investigation and review processes.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with operational, rehabilitative, and other program leadership teams to promote a safe, secure, and healthful work environment.
- Collaborate with the entire Risk and Compliance Team to ensure health and safety compliance issues are identified, tracked, and mitigated.
- Collaborate with the team managing the workers' compensation program to ensure the safety program directly supports and enhances the organization's insurance program with particular emphasis on the workers' compensation plan.
- Develop and implement training programs designed to meet specific OSHA and CARF standards/regulations, as well as issues identified through accident or safety related incidents as identified by tracking and trending processes.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications: Education, Experience and Certification(s)
- Minimum associate's degree in business or other related discipline preferred.
- Two years' experience may substitute for an associate degree.
- Experienced professional with 5 - 10 years of progressive experience in the safety field with an emphasis on OSHA required.
- CARF experience preferred, but not required.
- Must possess extensive knowledge in organizing and implementing safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
- Strong knowledge of workplace safety and security, OSHA, and other Government regulations.
- Safety and health certifications a plus.
- Availability and willingness to travel periodically to various Government sites and other ServiceSource locations in other States.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must possess strong computer skills and be familiar with using Microsoft software.
- Must be a well-organized, self-motivated, and self-directed individual who is a team player.
- A person who can relate to people at all levels of organization.
- An individual with superior communication skills.
- Ability to write business correspondence, reports, and policy and procedure manuals.
- Ability to make effective presentations to senior executives and/or other stakeholder groups.
